Wingspan about an inch across. Wings and body white to
yellowish. Wings speckled with yellowish dots and with brownish wavy
lines crossing them. Bordered with grayish patches and wavy lines that
give it a lacy look. Four small black spots, one on each wing. Adults
fly from late May to early September.
Caterpillar a long, thin, brown inchworm with brown
bands. Camouglages itself by grabbing a twig with one set of prolegs,
stiffening its body, and pretending to be a twiglet. Feeds on a variety
of foods from dandelions to black cherry leaves.
A dainty moth of eastern North America, east of the
Rockies.
