White Spring Moth, Lomographa vestaliata
Geometrideae or Geometer Family

Adult

Small moth, about 3/4 inch. Pure white, translucent, shiny wings with no black or colored markings. Body, legs and antennae base white or gray. Dark eyes. Flies by day or night.

Larva a small green inchworm with brown markings on the head.

One generation per year, flying from spring to summer. Overwinters as pupa, so expect adults in the spring and larvae in late summer.

Native to eastern US and Canada. Known from the Park, but easily overlooked.

The small size and nearly pure white coloration make this fairly easy to identify.

Adult, flower for scale
