Erect plant with dangling, deep yellow flowers and
untidy-looking leaves. Flowers never open very wide.
Blooms in early spring. Likes rich woods, especially around
limestone rocks. In Wildwood fairly common in the woods on the
western slope.
Perfoliate bellwort is smaller,
and has pale yellow flowers.
Fairy bells is a branching plant with greenish or pale yellowish
