Low Hop Clover,  Trifolium campestre (formerly T. procumbens)
Fabaceae or Pea Family

Low, sprawling plant with small clusters of yellow, pea-like flowers on the ends of long stalks.  Leaves have 3 leaflets, very finely toothed, with no bristle at the tip.

Weedy alien from Eurasia.  Prefers sunny fields, lawns and roadsides.  In Wildwood, occasional along the Bikeway and in the south meadow.

There are three species of hop clovers, one larger and one smaller than this one.  The others have not yet been reported in the Park.  Black medick resembles the hop clovers in appearance, stature, and habitat, but has bristle-tipped leaves and distinctive fruits.
