Mouse-Ear Chickweed, Cerastium fontanum
(Long known as C. vulgatum)
Caryophyllaceae or Pink Family

Upright plant with tiny white flowers.  The flowers have 5 petals, each divided almost halfway with a notch.  Leaves are tongue-shaped, stalkless, furry, and opposite each other. Blooms spring to fall.

Non-native weed. Occasional in the Park, and a common weed in yards and gardens.

Common chickweed, also a weed, has more-egg-shaped leaves that are not fuzzy, and petals usually divided nearly to the base. The native, star chickweed (Stellaria pubera), has larger, conspicuous flowers.
