Mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris
Asteraceae or Sunflower Family

Plant

Coarse medium plant, about 3 to 4 feet. Flowerheads small, green and white, in a long leafy spike. Leaves aromatic, variable in shape, generally with several lobes, some of which are further lobed. Undersides of leaves white with hairs.

Alien weed of waste places. Occasional in Wildwood, along the Riverway and Wildwood Drive.

The variable-shaped leaves with white undersides are the best identification character; the aroma can help confirm.
