Low, trailing plant with soft hairy stems. Leaves have 3 stalkless, oval leaflets. Flowers Pink to purple, with darker lines, resembling sweet pea flowers.
A native of dry woods. Rare in the Park, in the woods on the east slope.
Other pea family members have similar leaves and flowers, but the trailing habit, small size and woodland habitat should help identify it. Creeping bush clover (L. repens) is very similar but has smooth stems; it has been reported in the Park, but this turned out to be a misidentification. |
