High-climbing woody vine. Leaves with 7 to 11 oval, pointed, toothed leaflets. Flowers large, showy, red to orange, trumpet-shaped. Blooms in summer.
Showy native of moist woods and thickets. Occasional in Wildwood; often noticeable only as showy red trumpets high in the tree.
The plant is easily identified as the flowers are distinctive.
