Yellow Stargrass, Hypoxis hirsuta
Liliaceae or Lily Family

Small, erect plant, with grass-like leaves and a small cluster of yellow flowers (usually only one or two open) at the end of a long, thin stalk.  Flowers have six petals.  Blooms in spring in open woods.

Occasional in the woods on the eastern slope of the Park, especially near the Grand Staircase.

A distinctive plant when flowering, unlikely to be mistaken for anything else.
