Microscopic Flora and Fauna

On 29 August 2000, students in Dr. Coté's Principles of Biology Class at Radford University examined water samples from the wetland at the base of the weeping tufa cliffs at the entrance of Wildwood Park.  An amazing diversity of organisms was found at the end of what has been a very wet and mild summer.  What we would find in a drier summer must await future studies.

The students involved in the study:

Algae:
Characium
Spirogyra
Zygnema

Diatoms:
  Gomphonema
