Flowers

Description. Erect plant about a foot tall, but with the flowers mostly nodding. Leaves all at the base, flat narrow. Flowers in a terminal, nodding cluster with 6 pink (sometimes white) petals. Entire plant with an onion odor. Blooms in summer.

A charming and lovely native. Likes full sun and rocky places. In Wildwood, common along the bluffs along Wildwood Drive.

Wild onion (A. canadense) usually produces bulblets instead of flowers, and the occasional flowers are upright.
